Our Services

Complete Examination

The first appointment for most adults is a comprehensive 60-90 minute examination in a relaxed, comfortable environment. This allows us time to get to know you, your dental history, concerns, and to explain the exam findings as well as appropriate treatment options. You have time to ask questions and learn about up-to-date procedures that are available to treat any of your concerns or needs. Treatment decisions are easier when you are well informed. This is the first step in our partnership with you toward achieving and maintaining dental health.

Customized Hygiene Maintenance

Not all patients fall into the twice a year “cleaning” appointment schedule. We customize a plan for you depending on your state of health. Some people may need only one appointment yearly, while other patients may require additional appointments at our office to maintain the health of their gums. A referral to a Periodontist (gum specialist) for more advanced care may be suggested as part of treatment. A plan specific to your needs will be established in collaboration with your Dentist and Dental Hygienist.

Emergency Care

Charlottesville Dental Health Partners is available for emergency care during regular office hours. Patients of record have emergency access to the doctors after hours and on weekends and holidays.

Children/Adolescent Dental Care

Early preventive dental care is important for children. Care of primary teeth aids in the positioning of permanent teeth, and combating the number one childhood disease which is dental caries (decay). Age three is normal for a child’s first visit. We often recommend bringing a two-year-old with mom or dad to the parent’s normal visit to the hygienist. Children’s issues can be discussed and a quick “look-see” exam might be accomplished in the parent’s lap. This process helps the young ones become familiar with our dental office setting and look forward to coming in for a visit of their own.

CEREC

Charlottesville Dental Health Partners embraces minimally invasive preparation techniques which preserve precious tooth structure and helps avoid the necessity for traditional crowns later in life.

CEREC computer-generated, all-porcelain restorations are made in one visit with this incredible technology. These bonded restorations (inlays, onlays, and partial crowns) strengthen the tooth while allowing for minimally invasive dentistry. They restore strength to the tooth by replacing missing tooth structure with a bonded enamel-like ceramic. Full crowns can also be done when a tooth is in need of more advanced care. Using porcelain as a “filling” material strengthens the tooth more and allows longer service.

Sedation Dentistry

Charlottesville Dental Health Partners has used forms of conservative sedation for over 30 years, helping patients overcome anxiety and fear concerning dental treatment. Nitrous Oxide, oral sedations options (pills),quiet private treatment rooms, Swedish foam chair pads, blankets, and a friendly, caring staff trained in the use of patient monitors allows you to relax while receiving your dental care.

Whitening Teeth

If you’re concerned about the color of your teeth due to coffee, cigarettes, medication or just getting a little older — we can help. Ask us how we can easily and painlessly brighten your smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers can beautifully restore front teeth and smiles using porcelain or composite. Simple minimal prep veneers can cover discolored teeth and/or fill in small spaces. Traditional veneers with a modest preparation of the teeth can also provide a long lasting and beautiful result.

All options for restoring your smile will be presented as you partner with us in finding the best aesthetic plan for you.

Crowns, Bridges, and Restorative Dentistry

The latest in porcelain and composite, as well as classic gold are available to restore teeth that are cracked, worn or heavily filled with silver-mercury amalgams. Small and medium size areas of decay are treated with composite (tooth colored filling). Porcelain inlays, onlays, and partial crowns are used when larger amounts of the tooth are missing. These “bonded” restorations help restore strength to the remaining tooth structures, helping to prevent tooth fracture and the need for crowns later in life.

Crowns are also placed on teeth that are in need of total support and coverage. Gold and the latest Zirconium and Emax porcelain provide long-lasting strong service for the compromised tooth.

Missing teeth can be replaced with a fixed cemented bridge using your remaining teeth or dental implants for support. All options will be presented at your comprehensive exam.

Dental Implants

No other area of dentistry has offered as many benefits for patients as dental implants! Teeth can be replaced without having to involve any neighboring teeth. Dentures and partial dentures can be secured so well that you can eat comfortably and be confident when speaking, smiling, and being close to the people in your life. Charlottesville Dental Health Partners teams with the surgeon in coordinating all aspects of implant therapy from diagnosis and treatment planning to the final prosthetic result. Our in-house laboratory allows us to expedite your treatment by keeping much of the fabrication and maintenance procedures on site.

TMJ and Facial Pain

Symptoms of “TMJ” can range from head and neck aches to popping and clicking when you open and close your mouth. Treatments can range from occlusal splints, night guards, bite adjustments and muscle-relaxing medications, depending on the nature and longevity of the problem. A thorough dental exam may reveal the cause of the symptoms. Often physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors and orthodontists are used in conjunction with our treatment plans. It is important to keep an open mind in treating the varied range of symptoms for this complex disorder.
